Out of business . . . for a bit

In case anyone other than my mom and sister check this blog . . .

My lens is not working reliably and am working on getting a new one. Unfortunately, the lens is quite pricey and it may be a little while before I am able to get it. I will let everyone know as soon as I am ready to take appointments again. The good news is when I do get my new lens, my pictures should be even better!

Thank you so much for your phone calls, emails and questions. I was surprised at the response I got after putting this blog private while I figured out what to do. I still have so much to learn and figure out and tend to be really hard on myself and your interest and compliments help me a lot and motivate me to keep on going. Man is there a lot to know and figure out!

I also appreciate seeing your birth announcements and Christmas cards with my picture on them!

When I showed up to take these pictures my lens stopped working. Lucky for me this is the kindest and most patient family, not to mention gorgeous. Also lucky for me, my sister was in town and has a compatible lens I was able to get for it.

These two were fun to shoot also, the girl was adorable and posed up a storm, she is a natural. Her little brother wasn't too excited about me taking his picture but we had him laughing by the end. I love his serious look too.

I was so excited about this shoot, I know two other moms in my neighborhood who have a boutique and asked me to take pictures of their stuff. Talk about cute!!! They were so kind to give my three girls each a belt and we can't wait to wear them to school this year, the ribbon headbands are really cute too. How gorgeous are all of these girls?!?!?

Turning 6

This cute little guy was about to turn 6, his mom asked me not to photoshop his band aid because that is him and how 6 is, I thought that was great. My favorite pictures are the ones that show the kids personality, whether it is a rough and tumble 6 year old boy or a 1 year old that just doesn't want to cooperate. We took pictures of his cute little sister as well.

This was my first time doing a group this large. I was a little nervous, not knowing how I would pose everyone but this family was so nice and wonderful and made it so easy for me. I would definately do this kind of shoot again. I like the color combination they chose to wear.

This family was so cute and easy to shoot that I ended up with over 50 edited photos, and hundreds more I didn't edit. This baby is just too cute, I adore these close ups of her and isn't her brother just so handsome? I not only enjoyed this shoot because of this darling family, but also the fun location.

Is she not the cutest little one year old? She even spent the day at the zoo and came straight to photos and she still was happy and smiling. I can't choose a favorite. Again, I shot most of these on manual settings. I am so excited about all the practice I am getting and have been reading a lot and learning more about my camera.

This family is so fun to shoot, even the two year old lasted and was smiling after an entire hour! Amazing. This picture below was the very last we took, after an hour and still three adorable smiling faces. (It helped that their daddy was being silly for them) The power went out as they were getting ready and curling hair (as if getting ready for family pictures isn't stressful enough), and you can't even tell, they look great.

I am an amateur trying to learn a lot more about my camera and photography. My husband surprised me with my first camera for Christmas a couple of years ago and I am still trying to figure it all out. Once I master all the settings I would like to get another one, upgrade my camera body and lens. I am learning a lot by reading and taking classes but mostly by practicing, that is why I started taking photos for other people, so I can continue to learn. I would love for you to join me on this journey to keep improving my photography skills. I will gradually increase my prices as I learn more and upgrade equipment but it is my goal to offer good photos at affordable prices.

** I will be raising my prices starting October 5th to $75.00. This is still a great deal, you get the cd with all the rights to print. You cd will have anywhere from 30 to 60 edited images! I am still learning and that is why I offer such a low price for photos. I gradually raise my prices as I learn more and get better equipment but it is my goal not to go to high and to stay affordable.

For $50.00 you get:

1 hour of my time capturing your favorite people at a location we both decide on. (reasonable travel fee may apply)
cd with edited images with the rights to print I ususally end up with a minimum of 20 good, edited photos but there may be as many as 50. I have even been known to end up with over 60!
This fee is for one family, if there are multiple families additional fees may apply. Each family will get their own cd mailed to thier home.
